What is Vacuoles?

A vacuole is a membrane-bound cell organelle that is present in the cytoplasm of the animals, plants (including algae & fungi), and some protists and bacteria.

It is an enclosed compartment that is filled with water containing inorganic and organic molecules including enzymes in solution.

It is formed by the fusion of multiple membrane vesicles.

It has no basic shape or size, rather its structure varies according to the requirements of the cell.

Vacuoles can store food or other nutrients required for the survival of the cell.

They also help in removing waste products, so that the entire cell does not get contaminated.
