What is binary fission in organisms? With the help of suitable diagrams, describe the mode of reproduction in Amoeba.
In Binary fission the parent cell gets split into two halves, each half forms identical daughter cells of the same size. Binary fission takes place in unicellular organisms. It is observed in amoeba, paramecium, trypanosome.
Amoeba reproduces by the process of binary fission.
The cell of an Amoeba starts dividing after attaining its maximum size. The nucleus of the cell divides first, followed by the cytoplasm. Thus, the single cell divides into two identical cells.
