Sukhdev a farmer had a son and a daughter. He decided to divide his property among his children. He gave $\frac{2}{5}$ of the property to his son and $\frac{4}{10}$ to his daughter and rest to a charitable trust.
a. Who's share was more son's or daughter's.
b. What do you feel about Sukhdev's decision? Which values are exhibited here?

Given:

Farmer gave $\frac{2}{5}$ of the property to his son.

Farmer gave $\frac{4}{10}$ of the property to his daughter.

To find: Here we have to find who's share of the property was more son's or daughter's.

Solution:

Let the total property = a

a)

Farmer gave $\frac{2}{5}$ of the property to his son:

Share of Son = $\frac{2a}{5}$

Farmer gave $\frac{4}{10}$ of the property to his daughter:

Share of Daughter = $\frac{4a}{10}$ = $\frac{2a}{5}$

So, shares of both Son and Daughter are equal.

b)

Sukhdev's decision is good as he give equal shares to his Son and Daughter and donated rest to the charity.
