Plants scatter their seeds far and wide by several methods. Why is scattering necessary?

Several plants scatter their seeds to ensure the growth of the plants at varying distances. The growth of the plants closer to each other can leads to difficulty in survival as the plants have to compete for light, water and nutrients from the soil.

This process of the spreading of seeds from one place to another is known as seed dispersal.

Seed dispersal allows the growth of the plant in a spread way in a wide area to avoid competition among each other.

It can usually take place by natural means such as with heavy wind and water flow, and it can also take place with the help of animals.
