Find the distance of between the points $( \frac{-8}{2},\ 2)$ and $(\frac{2}{5},\ 2)$.
Given: Points $( \frac{-8}{2},\ 2)$ and $(\frac{2}{5},\ 2)$.
To do: To find the distance between the given points.
Solution:
The distance between the two points $(x_1,\ y_1)$ and $(x_2,\ y_2),\ D=\sqrt{( x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}$
$\Rightarrow D=\sqrt{( \frac{2}{5}-( -4))^2+( 2-2)^2}$
$\Rightarrow D=\sqrt{( \frac{2}{5}+4)^2+0}$
$\Rightarrow D=\sqrt{( \frac{22}{5})^2}$
$\Rightarrow D=\frac{22}{5}$
$\Rightarrow D=4.4\ unit$
Thus, the distance between the points $( \frac{-8}{2},\ 2)$ and $(\frac{2}{5},\ 2)$ is $4.4\ unit$.
