Boojho has a brilliant idea! If he wants to know what kind of roots a plant has, he need not pull it out. He just has to look at its leaves!

Yes, one can find out what kind of roots a plant has, by just looking at its leaves.

If the plant leaves have parallel venation, then it is likely to have fibrous root, but if the leaves have reticulate venation then the plant will have a taproot.

 Parallel Venation

When veins (or the nerves) are arranged parallel to one another all over the leaf blade or lamina is known as parallel venation.

Reticulate Venation

When veins (or the nerves) are arranged in-network or web-like arrangement all over the leaf blade or lamina, it is called as reticulate venation.
