(a) How does the embryo get nourishment inside the mother's body?
(b) If the blood group of father is A and the blood group of mother is O, what will be the blood group of their daughter? Explain how you have arrived at your answer.

(a) The embryo gets nourishment from the mother's blood through the placenta. The placenta possesses villi and blood vessels which helps in the transfer of oxygen and glucose from the mother to the embryo.

(b) If the blood group of the father is A and the blood group of the mother is O, then the blood group of their daughter must be either A or O.

If the father's blood group is A (homozygous, iAiA) and the mother's blood group is O (iOiO), then all the possible children will possess blood group A (heterozygous, iAiO).

If the father's blood group is A (heterozygous, iAiO) and the mother's blood group is O (iOiO), then the children will possess either blood group A (heterozygous, iAiO) or blood group O (iOiO).
