A man having blood group O marries a woman having blood group B and they have a daughter. What will be the blood group of the daughter?
There are two possibilities of gene combination in a woman having blood group B. Possible gene combination for blood group B can be either IBIB or IBIO.
Condition 1: When a woman having blood group B possess a gene combination of IBIB, the daughter will possess blood group B as IBgene is dominant over IOgene of blood group O (IOIO).
Condition 2: When a woman having blood group B possess a gene combination of IBIO, the daughter will possess an equal possibility for receiving the genotype IBIOand IOIO.
Thus, a daughter can possess blood group B or blood group O.
