Mohan deposits $Rs.\ 2,000$ in his bank account and withdraws $Rs.\ 1,642$ from it, the next day. If withdrawal of amount from the account is represented by a negative integer, then how will you represent the amount deposited? Find the balance in Mohan’s account after the withdrawal.
Given:
Mohan deposits $Rs.\ 2,000$ in his bank account and withdraws $Rs.\ 1,642$ from it, the next day.
The withdrawal of the amount from the account is represented by a negative integer.
To do:
We have to find how we represent the amount deposited and the balance in Mohan’s account after the withdrawal.
Solution:
The amount deposited in the bank account $= Rs.\ 2000$
The amount withdrawn from the bank account $= Rs.\ 1642$
The withdrawal of the amount from the account is represented by a negative integer.
This implies,
The amount deposited will be denoted with a positive sign.
Therefore,
Balance in the account $=$ Amount deposited in bank account $+$ Amount withdrawn from the bank account
$= 2000 + (-1642)$
$= 2000 - 1642$
$= 358$
Therefore, the balance in Mohan’s account after the withdrawal is $Rs.\ 358$.
