How to Transfer Contacts from iPhone to iPhone?

There was a time when we had to manually write in limitless quantities of phone numbers, names, and other information to transfer contacts from one mobile platform to another. Thanks to cell phones, which do most of the job for us in a short time.

Nowadays, iPhones and Androids are the two most dominant smartphones on the market. Some individuals wish to migrate from Android to iPhone devices or from iPhone to Android smartphones or maybe from an older iPhone to their newly bought one, so they need to move their contact list from one phone to another in a few clicks rather than painstakingly inputting each contact.

To keep in touch with loved ones, friends, and coworkers, you'll want to switch to a new phone when you get a new iPhone. You may follow along as we demonstrate how to move contacts from one iPhone to another. You can pick any one of the following that best suits you from a variety of available options −

  • Using the sync contacts option between iOS and iCloud.

  • Using iTunes to transfer contacts.

  • Importing contacts from the eSim/virtual sim data.

  • Transferring data in case the old iPhone is broken/lost.

Using iCloud Backup for transferring data − If you get a new iPhone, you should transfer all your contacts from your prior smartphone. You may use iCloud to move contacts from your old iPhone to your new iPhone while setting it up for the first time. In addition to contacts, iCloud Backup will transfer all your other data and settings.

Here's how to move contacts from an old iPhone to a new one −

  • Ensure that your old iPhone is linked to Wi-Fi.

  • Access the Settings app.

  • Switch to Apple ID > Go to iCloud.

  • Log in using your Apple ID.

  • Choose the Backup you just created on your previous device.

Now you have to wait for your contacts and other data to be transferred from your old iPhone to your new one. Finally, Complete the remaining on-screen setup instructions, and you are set to go!

Using the sync contacts option between iOS and iCloud − If you currently have a new iPhone and want to receive all of your contacts without having to reset your device, you may do so with iCloud:

  • Connect Wi-Fi to both your old and new devices.

  • Ensure that you have the same Apple ID logged in on both devices (Settings > [your name]).

  • Open Settings > [your name] > iCloud on both iPhones.

  • On both smartphones, enable the Contacts toggle.

  • When the notice about combining contacts displays, press Merge.

Your contacts are now synchronized between both iPhones. To update the Contacts app on your new iPhone, launch it and drag it down from the top of the screen. The contacts from your prior device will be listed.

Using iTunes to transfer contacts

You may use iTunes to move contacts from iPhone to iPhone without using iCloud. This task will need the use of both iPhones and a computer.

  • Ensure that you have the most recent version of iTunes installed on your Mac or PC.

  • Start iTunes.

  • Connect your old iPhone to a computer

  • If a pop-up message appears requesting access to your iPhone, follow the on-screen instructions.

  • On the top toolbar, choose your iPhone.

  • On the left sidebar, click Info.

  • Check the Sync Contacts box and then click Apply.

  • At the bottom, click Sync and wait for the Sync to complete.

  • Unplug your old iPhone and attach it to your PC.

  • At the top of your new iPhone, navigate to the Info area.

  • Check that the Sync Contacts option is selected.

  • Scroll all the way back down to the Advanced section.

  • Select Contacts from the Replace information on this iPhone menu

This will replace your existing contacts with the contacts from your previously synced old iPhone. This method is not quite conventional, yet a procedure to help you get your data on the new device.

Importing contacts from the eSim/virtual sim data:

iPhones do not keep contacts on eSIM cards, but you may transfer them to your iPhone if you already have some phone numbers on there.

  • Confirm that you have contacted your teleoperator to validate your eSIM on your new handset.

  • Confirm that the new eSIM is operational.

  • Click on Settings > Contacts.

  • Select Import SIM Contacts.

Allow time for the contacts to import. They should now display in the Contacts app.

Transferring data in case the old iPhone is broken/lost:

What if you don't have access to your old iPhone? It might have been lost, stolen, or just stopped working. Never, ever quit up! If you utilized iCloud on your previous device and enabled iCloud Backup, you may still move contacts to your new iPhone.

Here's how to get iCloud contacts:

  • Sign in to icloud.com using your Apple ID.

  • Select Contacts. The contacts connected with your iCloud account will be displayed here. They will be transferable to your new iPhone.

  • Follow the steps above to move contacts from an old iPhone to a new iPhone using an iCloud backup.

Note − If your contacts are not stored in iCloud, you may still have an iTunes backup. If you feel this is the case, go as follows to restore your new iPhone from an iTunes backup:

  • Power up your new iPhone and proceed through the setup process until you reach the Apps & Data page.

  • Select Restore from an iTunes Backup.

  • Connect your new iPhone to the computer that you used to back up your prior smartphone.

  • Open iTunes and select your new device at the top left of the screen.

  • Click the Restore Backup button.

  • Choose the latest recent Backup.

  • Enter your password if your Backup is encrypted.

  • Remain connected to iTunes and Wi-Fi until the transfer is complete.

  • Finish the rest of the iPhone setup processes.
