Given: Four cells are fixed on a board in figure 14.22.

To do: To draw lines to indicate the connection of their terminals with wires to make a battery of four cells.

Solution:

Making a battery:

A battery is the combination of two or more cells. The correct method of connecting two electric cells to make a battery is to connect the negative end of a cell to the positive terminal of another cell. The metal cap is the positive terminal of an electric cell and the metal plate is the negative terminal of an electric cell.

Connection of  the given four cells

The given four cells are to be connected with wires to make a battery of four cells. To make a battery, the negative terminal of the first cell should be connected to the positive terminal of the second cell and negative terminal of the second cell should be connected to the positive terminal of the third cell and the negative terminal of the third cell should be connected to the positive terminal of the fourth cell.
