Expand function in Excel 365


Introduction

In this type of article, we may go to create the data using the Expand() function to copy the selected data that the users have to insert in the expand function in any selected cell. The users have to analyze to expand the selected or created data in any other cell by using Expand() function. Various efficient methods like LAMBDA, TOROWS, WRAPROWS, MAP and so on are introduced in the EXCEL 365. Before implementing the Expand function, users need to install Office 365 in their system. If users wish to employ this function in older versions of Excel, then Name error would arise.

Expand function in Excel 365

Step 1

Open the Microsoft Excel sheet and insert the data from cells A2 to B8 as you need as shown below.

Step 2

In the Excel sheet, locate the pointer in any cell-like E1 to expand the array and enter the formula that is =EXPAND(Table2,9,3) to expand the data that is inserted in the cells then press “Enter” key that will display the result as shown below.

Step 3

In Excel 365, locate the pointer in cell E1 and change the formula that is =EXPAND(Table2,9,3,"blank") to remove the errors in column F. The users must expand the data that they want to display the blank cells as text with the selected range. Then press the Enter key that will display the result to show the blank text as shown below.

Step 4

In the Excel sheet, locate the pointer in cell E1 and change the formula =EXPAND(Table2,9,3,"{}") to remove the blank values in column H. The users must expand the data that they want to display the blank cells with the selected range. Then press the Enter key that will display the result to show the curly braces where blank cells are being written as shown below.

In this screenshot, only blank data are not visible in the double quotes because the expand function may not use any text in the double quotes in this step.

Conclusion

The users may use the easy instance to show how they can use the expand function to extend the selected arrays in the version of Excel 365. The users can use the syntax or function for the expansion of the predefined array that will display the result.
