Roblox is a genuine PC game, but cybercriminals use its name to release the dangerous malware known as Roblox Virus.
In this post, we would discuss what Roblox is, what Roblox Virus is, and how to get rid of it.
As mentioned in the introduction, Roblox is a pretty popular online multiplayer PC game. It was launched in the year 2006 for Windows OS and soon after getting popularity, was launched for iOS, macOS, and later for Android too. It is basically free to play, but players get many in-game purchasing options using the virtual currency Robux.
As of 2020, Roblox has over 165 million monthly active users. With such a vast userbase, it is unsurprisingly one of the primary targets of cyberattacks. Cybercriminals use its name to lure users into downloading malicious applications. That is where the term Roblox Virus comes into existence.
Since Roblox is a genuine, trusted PC game that is played by millions of users on a daily basis, so it is obviously not a virus itself. To utilize its popularity, cybercriminals have introduced many malicious apps in its name. Many malicious apps pretend to be the Robux Generator, which is a virtual Roblox game currency. Since Robux is costly on the official platform, many apps attract users by providing a fake offer to generate Robux for free or at a very low price than the original.
In anticipation of getting the Robux for free or at a lesser price, many Roblox players download the fake application, which is, in fact, Roblox Virus.
Roblox Virus is a trojan malware that pretends to help users play Roblox game but, in reality, infects the computer devices with malicious files and codes. When installed on the system, the Roblox virus opens the gate for the Win32/OnlineGames trojan malware. After downloading and installing the fake Robux generator, users will be asked to enter their Roblox login details. Even after providing the details, they won't get the Robux.
The Win32/OnlineGames trojan, after entering your device, can perform more malign tasks such as recording keystrokes, saved logins/passwords, browsing history, etc., providing infiltrators with remote access downloading/installing other malware, and so on.
If your system is infected with a Roblux Virus, it is advised to remove it as quickly as possible. Here is how you can do that −
Step 1 − Disconnect the Internet connection on your infected system so that Win32/OnlineGames trojan can be deactivated and become isolated from its controller.
Step 2 − Disable all the Roblox Processes. From the Task Manager of your system, disable the Roblox game and all its related processes.
Step 3 − Uninstall the fake Robux Generator. This the main culprit application, so uninstall it immediately.
Step 4 − Uninstall Roblox Game. Although it is a legitimate game, if downloaded from official sources, it is still advised to uninstall the Roblox Game for the time being. The Roblox Virus might have infected its files.
Step 5 − Delete all the files, folders, and applications related to Roblox. Thoroughly check and delete every single file and folder related to Roblox or Roblox generator. You can use the dedicated cleaner application for that.
Step 6 − Scan your system with a robust antimalware program. Antimalware programs are specifically designed to catch and remove malicious programs like Roblox Virus. Perform a full system scan with antimalware to completely clean your system from Roblox Virus and its components.
