Why is Agriculture important for human beings?


Importance of Agriculture are:

(i) Production of essential food crops, fruits and fodder for livestock

(ii) Source of livelihood for majority of the Indian population

(iii) Agriculture products such as sugar, tea, rice, spices, tobacco, coffee, etc. are export items, supporting the country’s economic development

(iv) Agriculture also provide the raw materials for major industries such as cotton and jute fabric, sugar, tobacco, edible as well as non-edible oil industries

(v) Modern agriculture is considered beyond cultivation and farming. It includes dairy, poultry, forestry, beekeeping, and sericulture.
