Why do miscible liquids only forms homogeneous mixture and not a heterogeneous mixture?

Homogeneous Mixture
  • A Homogeneous mixture is a solid, liquid or gaseous mixture that has the same proportions of its components throughout any given sample. It appears uniform, regardless of where you sample it.

  • In Homogeneous mixtures, particles are distributed uniformly.

  • Homogeneous mixtures are also called solutions.

  • It has a uniform composition throughout the sample.

  • Examples of homogeneous mixtures include air, saline solution, most alloys, and bitumen.

Heterogeneous Mixture

  • A Heterogeneous mixture has components in which proportions vary throughout the sample. It contains particles of different shapes or sizes and the composition of one sample may differ from that of another sample.

  • In Heterogeneous Mixture, particles are distributed non-uniformly

    • It has a non-uniform composition of the sample.

    • Examples of heterogeneous mixtures include sand, oil and water, and chicken noodle soup.

Hence, we can say that Miscible Liquids are Homogeneous in nature.
