What is a heterogeneous mixture and homogeneous mixture?


• A mixture is produced by combining two or more substances.


• A homogeneous mixture is a solid, liquid or gaseous mixture that has the same proportions of its components throughout any given sample.

Example- sources of water, solution of salt and water.


• A heterogeneous mixture has components (solids, liquids or gases) in which proportions vary throughout the sample.

Example- ice cubes in a drink, sand and water, and salt and oil.
