Oil and Water form a heterogeneous mixture. Why?

Through combining two or more substances, a mixture is produced. A heterogeneous mixture has components (solids, liquids or gases) in which proportions vary throughout the sample.

Eg:  ice cubes in a drink, sand and water, and salt and oil.

The liquid that is immiscible form heterogeneous mixtures. A good example is a mixture of oil and water are heterogeneous mixtures as oil floats on top of water surface but do not mix with it.
