Why are the handles of cooking utensils made from Bakelite or wood?
Bakelite and wood are bad conductors of heat and do not transfer the heat from the utensils to our hands while handling the utensils.
When cooking the utensils become very hot and we cannot directly touch them to put them on or remove them from the stove. So these utensils like pans, pressure cookers, milk boilers, etc., are provided with handles made from Bakelite or wood. As they are safe and bad conductors of heat, handles of materials like Bakelite and wood are used in cooking utensils.
