Why are fabrics made from cotton more comfortable in summer?

Cotton fabrics act as thermal insulation by protecting us against heat in summers and cold in the winters. They are good moisture absorbent and at the same time, it loses the moisture very quickly. They also trap air between fabric fibres and hold the fabric away from the skin.

Therefore, during summer when you sweat more than other seasons a cotton or linen clothes make you feel more comfortable because the fabric absorbs the sweat from your skin and evaporates into the atmosphere taking the heat from the body thus resulting in an overall cooling effect on the person wearing it.

That’s why cotton and linen clothes are mostly preferred in summer for comfort.
