When are carbohydrates formed in plants ?

Carbohydrates are formed in plants during the process of photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis transform light energy into chemical energy. In photosynthesis light energy captured from sun transfers the electrons from water (H₂O) to carbon dioxide (CO₂), to produce carbohydrates. During this transfer gets CO₂ reduced and water becomes oxidized. As a result oxygen is produced along with carbohydrates.
