What is trachea?

The trachea is also called as the windpipe. It is a tube-like structure that starts below the larynx and extends up to bronchial tube.

Trachea has C-shaped semicircular cartilage ring which maintain its shape and give hardness.

The trachea extends into the breastbone and splits into two bronchi of lungs.
