What is the difference between Heterotrophs and Saprotrophs?

The difference between Heterotrophs and Saprotrophs are as follow:

Heterotrophs Saprotrophs

1. Heterotrophs are those organisms that depend on plants or other organisms for their food/nutrition.

1. Saprotrophs are those organisms that depend on dead and decaying organic matter for their food/nutrition.

2. The digestion of heterotrophs is intracellular.

2. The digestion of saprotrophs is extracellular.

3. Heterotrophs are mostly eukaryotic.

3. Saprotrophs can be both eukaryotic and prokaryotic.

4. Examples- Mammals (Humans, Cows, Goats, Horses), Birds (Parrot, Vulture, Sparrow), etc.
