What Is Supersaturated Solution?

Dear Eshita,

Supersaturation /Supersaturated Solution is a solution that contains more of the dissolved material than that could be dissolved by the solvent under normal circumstances. As solubility is dependent on temperature, if an already saturaated solution is heated, we can dissolve more solutes in it.Hence, a supersaturated solution produces more dissolved content than it should. Example: 211 grams of water can be dissolved in 100 millilitres of Sucrose (sugar), but on heating the solution we can dissolve more sucrose in water .Thus making it a supersaturated solution.
