What is a neutral solution?

A solution which is neither acidic nor basic is called a neutral solution. Its pH value is 7. It does not change the colour of the indicator.

A solution is defined as neutral if the concentration of hydrogen ions is the same as the concentration of hydroxide ions:

Neutral solution: [H+] = [OH-]

where [H+] = concentration of hydrogen ions in solution.

and [OH-] is the concentration of hydroxide ions in solution.
