What is Intermolecular and Intramolecular Force?

Intermolecular forces are forces of attraction or repulsion that arise between the molecules of a substance.

Intermolecular forces are categorised into three types:-

1. Dipole-dipole interaction.

2. Hydrogen Bonding.

3. London dispersion attraction (under the category of Van der Waal Forces).

Intramolecular forces are the forces that hold atoms together within a molecule by attracting one another by the sharing of electrons.

Intramolecular forces are categorised into three types:-

1. Ionic Bond.

2. Covalent Bond.

3. Metallic Bond.
