What are Epithelial Tissues?

The epithelial tissue forms a continuous sheet on both the external and internal surfaces of the human body and its organs.

Hence, the epithelial tissue is known as the covering tissue or protective tissue, while the continuous sheet is known as the epithelium. Apart from protecting the organs, the epithelial tissue also acts as a barrier to separate the internal organs and regulates the entry and exit of materials into and out of the body.
