Stone is called a non-magnetic, material but lodestone being a stone called a magnetic material? Why?
Magnetite is a rock mineral and one of the main iron ores, with the chemical formula Fe3O4, found in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. It is the most commonly mined ore of iron with the highest iron content (72.4%).
Naturally magnetized pieces of magnetite called a lodestone and this magnetic form of Magnetite is the only mineral that is a natural magnet.
Therefore, from the above explanation, we can say that unlike other stones or rocks, lodestone is the only rock mineral which is naturally a magnet.
