Solve the sum$-30 + 5 - [-17] - [-11]$

Solution:

$-30 + 5 - [-17] - [-11]$

This can be solved by simple addition and subtraction,

$- [-17]  =  + 17 .......................................................................                  [- x - = +]$

$-[-11]  =  + 11   ......................................................................                 [-  x -  = +]$

$- 30  +  5  +  17  +  11$

Rewrite,

$5 + 17 + 11 - 30$

Now add all the numbers with positive sign, and subtract the negative numbers from that,

$33 - 30  =  3                  [5 + 1 7 + 11  =  22  ]$

$-30 + 5 - (-17) - (-11)   =  3$
