To find: We have to the number.

Solution: 

Let the number be = a

So,

=> $\left( a\ -\frac{5}{2}\right)$ x 8 = 3a

=> 8a - $\left(\frac{5}{2}\right)$ x 8 = 3a

=> 8a - 20 = 3a

=> 8a - 3a = 20

=> 5a = 20

=> a = $\frac{20}{5}$

=> a = 4
