Given:

The numbers are $18,28,28,32,x$and $36$.

The mean of the numbers is $23$.

Solution:

The mean of  $18,28,28,32,x$and $36$ is $23

$( 18+28+28+32+x )\div 5 =23$

$ 18+28+28+32+x =23\times5$ 

$106+x=125$

$x=125-106$

$x=19$

Therefore, the value of $x=19$
