How is cream separated from milk?

The cream is separated from milk by the process of centrifugation.
  • Centrifugation is the process of separating the suspended particles from a liquid. The mixture is rotated at high speed in a centrifuge.
  • When milk is centrifuged, the cream and skimmed milk are separated.
  • Cream, being lighter, starts floating on the skimmed milk and hence, can be separated.
