Explain why an inert gas like Argon is filled in bulbs.

Argon is an inert gas so it is not chemically reactive. So, it does not react with the hot filament.

If the bulb is filled with air, the filament in the bulb (tungsten) will react with oxygen and it will burn.

If it’s a vacuum then the filament will evaporate because of the very high temperature and low pressure.

So, the bulbs are filled with the inert gases as it prevents burning and evaporation of the filament.
