Does phloem help in transpiration?

Phloem does not help in transpiration directly. Instead, Xylem helps in transpiration as the xylem is responsible for the transport of water and minerals from the root towards the upper parts of the plants. Loss of water from the stomata of the leaves is termed as transpiration thus, the xylem plays an important role in it.

Phloem helps in the transportation of food (sucrose) and amino acids between the leaves and other parts of the plant, thus it helps in translocation.
