Animals living in polar regions have a fat layer under their skin, that saves them from the extremely cold climate, but how the birds survive in these regions.


There are many different types of birds found in Polar Regions.

Penguin an aquatic flightless birds which have a thick layer of fat under their skin, as found in animals living in the polar region, for example, Polar Bear.

This layer of fat helps Penguin to survive the extremely cold climate.

Birds which have not a thick layer of fat under their skin, or not adapted to survive the extreme cold climate, they just fly to the warm regions by travelling a long-distance during winter survive, which is also known as migration, and the birds are known as Migratory Birds.

For example- Siberian crane, Arctic tern, Flamingo, Bar Headed Geese, Cuckoo, etc.
