A train 100m long is moving with a velocity of 60km/hr. Find the time taken by it to cross the bridge 1km long.
Given,
Length of train = 100m
Length of bridge = 1km = 1000m
Then, the total distance to be travelled = length of train + length of bridgee = 100 + 1100 = 1100m
Velocity/Speed = 60km/hr = $60\times \frac{5}{18}$ = $\frac{50}{3}m/s$
Time taken to cross the bridge, t = ?
We know that-
$Distance=Speed\times Time$
Then, $Time=\frac{Distance}{Speed}$
$Time=\frac{1100}{\frac{50}{3}}$
$Time=\frac{1100\times 3}{50}$
$Time=66sec$
Thus, the time taken by train to cross the 1km long bridge is 66sec.
