Difference between JUnit and TestNG
Software Testing is an important phase in the software development lifecycle because it involves locating and identifying bugs in the programme as well as ensuring that the software is error free. Testing is analogous to "quality control" and is what guarantees quality in the development of software. Unit testing, integration testing, functional testing, performance testing, acceptance testing, etc., are just some of the many types of testing that are performed at various points throughout the process.
Unit testing is carried out concurrently with the coding of a computer programme or application. In this type of testing, the smaller, more easily testable components of the programme or application, known as units, are singled out and put through their paces. The Java platform supports a wide variety of testing frameworks that can be used for unit testing. JUnit and TestNG are the Java frameworks for unit testing that are currently considered to be the most popular and widely used.
In terms of the functionality they provide, the two frameworks are extremely comparable; however, TestNG provides additional features that give it a distinct advantage over JUnit. Despite the fact that they both make use of functionalities that are widely employed, there are some subtle differences that put one of them ahead of the other.

The JUnit framework is a Java framework that is utilised frequently in the testing process. It helps the test run by simultaneously writing and testing along with it. In the beginning, the JUnit framework was derived from the SUnit framework, which is a framework that is utilised for unit testing. What is TestNG?
TestNG is another Java framework that makes it easier to execute software tests in the Java programming language. It is a framework that executes the tests that are contained within the classes. After creating the corresponding classes for each test, it processes the results.
JUnit has some limitations that are circumvented by using the more advanced framework "TestNG". Since it uses the same Classes to run all of its tests and manages threads to run procedures, which makes the overall functioning of the checking tests faster, it is also thought of as a flexible tool for performing tests. TestNG makes the overall functioning of the checking tests faster.
Features of the TestNG framework include −
TestNG has the capability to organise test methods into Java groups.
It runs unit tests, feeding parameters into the methods of the tests as it does so.
Utilizing threads helps improve testing performance by cutting down on the amount of time spent in execution.
JUnit is able to overcome one of its limitations thanks to the fact that it permits the running of concurrent tests.

TestNG is another well-known Java testing framework that was developed in order to circumvent the functional constraints imposed by JUnit. TestNG offers a greater number of additional and more sophisticated features than JUnit does. These features include data-driven testing, parameterized testing, group testing, parallel testing, and so on.
In addition, the more extensive and specialised annotations that are available in TestNG give it an advantage over JUnit in terms of power. The primary distinction, however, is in the manner in which tests are planned and carried out.
