1 - Assam Advisory Committee to revive economy submitted its report

The 8 member consultation committee set up by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to revive the state economy, has submitted its report to Chief Minister. The committee was headed by retired IAS officer Subhash Das.

The Committee has recommended both short and long term measures to revive the economy of Assam affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. The eight-member committee included prominent economists and experts of the state.

2 - Bimal Julka Committee submitted report

An Expert Committees on Rationalisation of Film Media Units and Review of Autonomous Bodies submitted its report to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Committee was chaired by Bimal Julka.

The recommendations of the committee are:

  • It has suggested an umbrella configuration with four broad verticals under which institutes should work viz. Production, Festival, Heritage and Knowledge.

  • These verticals would be headed by professionals.

  • It recommends creation of Film Promotion Fund to aid independent filmmakers for making commercial films.

3 - Center constituted task force on MMR and nutrition

The Government of India formed a Task Force to examine matters pertaining to age of motherhood, imperatives of lowering MMR, improvement of nutritional levels and related issues. It will be headed by Jaya Jaitly.

Features

  • To suggest measures for promoting higher education among women.

  • To suggest suitable legislative instruments and work out a detailed roll-out plan.

  • To examine the correlation of age of marriage and motherhood with (a) health, medical well-being and nutritional status of mother and infant.

  • The Task Force will be provided secretarial assistance by the NITI Aayog.

4 - Delhi LG constitutes expert committee Corona management

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has constituted an Expert Advisory Committee to advise Delhi Disaster Management Authority, DDMA on various aspects of COVID-19 management in Delhi. The committee will give advice on the challenges being faced in Delhi and suggest measures to ramp up medical infrastructure.

The committee comprises of Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research Dr. Balram Bhargava, Director of AIIMS, Delhi Dr. Randeep Guleria and Director, NCDC Dr. Sujit Kumar Singh.

5 - Government constituted Empowered Group of Secretaries to facilitate investment in country

Empowered Group of Secretaries

The Union Government has constituted an Empowered Group of Secretaries headed by Cabinet Secretary to facilitate investment in the country. The empowered group will assist investment in key sectors of the economy by identifying potential investors. It will also recommend sector-specific and geography specific incentive packages focusing on both domestic and foreign investors.

The seven member empowered group has CEO of NITI Aayog along with secretaries of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Commerce, Revenue and Economic Affairs as it's members.

6 - Ministry of Home Affairs reconstituted a new committee for the welfare of freedom fighters

MHA reconstituted a new committee for the welfare of freedom fighters. The committee will be headed by Home Affairs minister of state G Kishan Reddy. The committee includes nine other “eminent freedom fighters” from across the country as its members.

Roles of committee are:

  • To verify if one person has given affidavits to two or more applicants.

  • To examine the demands to build memorials and museums for freedom fighters.

  • To look into the welfare and grievances of freedom fighters and their families.

7 - Advisory Panel on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) reconstituted

The insolvency regulator IBBI reconstituted the Advisory Committee on Corporate Insolvency Resolution and Liquidation process. The committee consisting of 13 members would be headed by Uday Kotak, Executive Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank.

The Advisory Committee would be responsible to advise and provide professional support on a request from the IBBI or on its own volition or on any matter relating to the Corporate Insolvency resolution and liquidation dealt with by the Board under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016.

8 - Niti Aayog formed panel to develop job platform for migrant labourers

NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog has formed a high-powered committee to develop a job platform. The panel is headed by NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and includes top executives of technology companies like Google, Microsoft and Tech Mahindra as members.

The job platfrom will help migrant labours & blue-collar workers, who have lost their jobs during the lockdown, to find better employment opportunities in their language and around their place.
