Why does an Athlete breathe faster and deeper than usual after finishing the race?
An athlete consumes a lot of energy during running. This energy is produced by breakdown of glucose during respiration. This causes deficiency of oxygen. By breathing faster and deeper an athlete consumes more oxygen to meet his energy requirements.
