What is urine made up of?

Urine is a liquid by-product of metabolism in humans and in many other animals which is secreted by the kidneys through a process called urination and excreted through the urethra.

It contains more than 95% of water, and other constituents such as urea (a waste product that forms when proteins are broken down), chloride, sodium, ammonia, potassium, creatinine (a waste product that forms with the normal breakdown of muscle), and other dissolved ions, and inorganic and organic compounds.
