What is the first fiber made in the 1880s?

The first fiber made in the 1880s was Glass which was developed as a filament for the incandescent light bulb.

It was invented by Joseph Swan.

But, today it would be called semi-synthetic in exact usage.

In the “fully-synthetic sense”, Nylon is the first synthetic fiber that was developed by an American researcher Wallace Carothers, in the 1930s.
