What is Convex Mirror?
Convex mirror
Convex Mirror is a curved mirror where the mirror surface bulges out towards the light source. This bulging out surface reflect light outwards. Since the focal point (F) and the centre of curvature (2F) are imaginary points in the mirror that cannot be reached, these mirrors form a virtual image. This results in the formation of images that cannot be projected on a screen as the image is inside the mirror.
A) Object at infinity
When the object is at infinity, the light rays from the object are parallel to the principal axis. These got reflected and when the lines are extended we can observe that the image would fall at the focus.
B) Objects at a finite distance
The light from object PQ falls on the mirror as shown in the figure. When the ray PX is extended to focus and the ray PR is extended to curvature we can observe that the image was formed in between the pole and the focus.
