Though same current flows through the electric line wires and the bulb filament, yet only the filament of bulb glows. Give the reason behind it.
Same current flows through the electric line wires and bulb filament as they are connected in series.
We know the power consumed at a resistance is given by $(Current)^2 \times Resistance$
Or $P = I^2 \times R$
The electric line wires are very good conductors and their resistance is almost zero.
The bulb filament is a made of tungsten which has high resistance.
Since amount of heat generated is proportional to the resistance, the filament generates lot of heat. Due to the high heat, the filament starts glowing.
