Mention two ways in which digested food is utilised by the body?

During the process of digestion, food is ingested through the mouth and there itself digestion process starts with the secretion of salivary amylase. After passing through the digestion process in the stomach, the food reaches the small intestine.

In the small intestine, the digested food is absorbed with the help of villi and passed to the bloodstream, reaching various parts of the body.

1.) The absorbed nutrients undergo assimilation and the body utilized these nutrients to produce energy, and for the growth, repair, and development of the body.

The body oxidized the nutrients during respiration and release carbon dioxide in few processes.

2.) Unused or extra nutrients which are not used by the body get accumulated into the liver in the form of glycogen.

Upon energy requirement, glycogen breaks down to produce energy.
