Is dietary fiber a roughage?

Yes, Dietary fiber is also known as roughage.

It includes the parts of plant foods that our body can't digest or absorb.

Roughage, commonly known as fiber is the carbs in plants, such as whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, fruits, and vegetables, that our body can’t digest and promotes the elimination of waste products from the gut.

Fibers are divided into two main parts — soluble and insoluble.

Roughage helps us to improve digestion, manage weight, blood sugar control, to decrease cholesterol and blood pressure level.
