How can we use the RHS theorem or criterion for the congruence of triangles?
RHS congruence theorem
Theorem: In two right-angled triangles, if the length of the hypotenuse and one side of one triangle, is equal to the length of the hypotenuse and corresponding side of the other triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
To prove the congruence of two given triangles by RHS rule or criterion
we find if
- each of the two triangles has a right angle.
- the lengths of the hypotenuse of both triangles are equal
- one of the other sides of both triangles are equal
If these conditions are satisfied we say that the two triangles are congruent by the RHS criterion of congruence.
