Explain the action of dil HCl on the following with chemical equations:
(i) Magnesium ribbon(ii) Sodium Hydroxide(iii) Crushed egg shells

i>  Reaction of dilute hydrochloric acid with magnesium ribbon:

In this reaction, hydrochloric acid reacts with magnesium ribbon to form magnesium chloride and hydrogen gas.
$2HCl+\ Mg\ \rightarrow \ \ MgCl_{2} \ +H_{2}$

ii> Reaction of hydrochloric acid with sodium hydroxide:
In this reaction, dilute hydrochloric acid reacts with Sodium Hydroxide to form sodium chloride salt and water.
$HCl+\ NaOH\ \ \rightarrow \ NaCl\ +\ H_{2} O$

iii> Reaction with the crushed egg cell:
In this reaction, dilute hydrochloric acid reacts with crushed eggshells (eggshells are made of calcium carbonate) and dissolve it. The eggshells become soft.
$2HCl+\ CaCO_{3}\rightarrow \ CaCl_{2} \ +\ CO_{2} \ +\ H_{2} O$
