Define the term Physical Change.

Physical change is the change of that matter where only the appearance or molecular arrangement of matter changes without changing its composition. Changes in the size or form of matter are examples of physical change

Examples: Boiling and freezing of water, melting of wax, mixing sand and grains, crumpling a paper bag, chopping a block of wood, etc.

Physical changes include transitions from one state of matter to another, such as the transition of solid to liquid or liquid to gas. Cutting, dissolving,  blending, boiling, freezing, and melting are some of the processes that undergo physical change.

Properties of physical change are as follows:

1. Most of the physical changes are reversible. The original form of the matter can be attained.

2. It is a temporary change and no new substance is formed.

3. During a physical change, no energy is absorbed or released

4. Physical change causes changes in physical properties such as shape, size, etc.
