(a) How can diamonds be made artificially? How do synthetic diamonds differ from natural ones?(b) Give any two differences between the properties of diamond and graphite. What causes these differences?

Diamonds can be made artificially by subjecting the pure carbon to very high pressure and temperature.

(b)The difference between diamond and graphite is given below:
  1.  Diamond is hard in nature whereas graphite is soft.
  2. Diamond can conduct electricity whereas graphite cannot it is a poor conductor of electricity.

The difference in properties is caused by the arrangement of carbon atoms in these two elements are different.
