When a mixture of sodium sulphate powder and barium chloride powder is mixed together, no change is observed.

But when the solutions of barium chloride and sodium sulphate in water react to give insoluble white barium sulphate and the solution of sodium chloride.

The balanced chemical equation is for the above reaction is:
$BaCl_2 (aq) + Na_2SO_4 (aq) → BaSO_4 (s) + 2NaCl (aq)$
