20 horses consume a certain quantity of corn in 30 days. In how many days will the same quantity be consumed by 50 horses ?
Given: 20 horses consume a certain quantity of corn in 30 days
To find: Number of days in which the same quantity will be consumed by 50 horses
Solution:
Let $x$ be the quantity consumed by one horse in one day.
In 30 days one horse will consume $30x$ corn
In 30 days, 20 horses will consume $20 \times 30x = 600x$ corn
Total amount of corn is $600x$
Let $N$ be the number of days in which the same quantity is consumed by 50 horses.
So $N \times 50 x = 600x$
Solving we get $N =12$
So, in 12 days the same quantity will be consumed by 50 horses
